Sales Team at Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village Named "North America Sales Team of the Year" by Renaissance

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (June 2006) – The sales staff of The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village in St. Augustine was just named “Sales Team of the Year” for 2005 by Renaissance North America. The team was selected for the prestigious honor from a field of 77 Renaissance hotels and resorts in North America. The sales staff was presented with a plaque at an awards ceremony conducted by Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, according to Mark Schwantner, general manager of the 301-room resort.

Among the reasons cited for the distinction was that The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village sales team achieved an impressive 146% team booking pace in relation to its annual goal. The team also achieved 154% of their goal for total room revenue and catering revenue, and the staff’s RevPAR (revenue per available room) Index was 122% of its goal. The team was also recognized for proactively identifying demand-generating opportunities, and for demonstrating its ability to maintain a market share premium. It also was credited with working together to achieve goals, for involving other departments within the hotel in the sales process, for working closely with off-property partners to maximize the direct sales effort, and for its involvement in the community.

“I am very proud that my team was recognized for all of the hard work they have done, not only this past year, but for all they’ve accomplished in the four years that I have been here,” said Jeff Bloom, director of sales & marketing for The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village. “To be recognized as the ‘best of the best’ from a brand of really outstanding hotels is fantastic. Our entire team did an outstanding job.”

Bloom continued, “Our goals for 2006 are to repeat as recipients of this honor. It has never been done before in the history of Renaissance, so we are aiming to be the first.”

The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village, ideally located next to the World Golf Hall of Fame, is consistently recognized as one of the finest golf resorts in the country. Set in the heart of the beautifully landscaped, 6,300-acre World Golf Village, the luxurious Renaissance Resort was recently named to Condé Nast Traveler magazine’s “Top 100 Golf Resorts” list, and to Golf Digest magazine’s list of the “75 Best Golf Resorts in North America.” The resort also received Meetings & Conventions magazine’s “Gold Tee Award,” given annually to the world’s finest golf resort properties, and its King & Bear course was named by Golfweek to its list of  “America’s Top 100 Resort Courses in 2005.”

Among the many resort offerings are two extraordinary 18-hole championship courses that were designed by the legends of the game. The 7,279-yard King & Bear is the only course in the world designed jointly by Arnold Palmer (“The King”) and Jack “The Bear” Nicklaus. The 6,939-yard
Slammer & Squire is named for legendary Hall of Famers “Slammin” Sam Snead and Gene “The Squire” Sarazen, who partnered with architect Bobby Weed to create the impressive par 72 tree-lined course.
In addition to being a golfers paradise, The Renaissance Resort boasts a wealth of additional recreational options that appeal to golfers and non-golfers alike. Guests are able to enjoy a 24-hour health club and sauna, large swimming pool, hot tub, tennis courts, the Little Legends professionally-supervised child activity program, billiard room, 24-hour business center, jogging trails, and full-service concierge.

Just a chip shot from the resort, guests will find the remarkable World Golf Hall of Fame, an IMAX® Theater, and an 18-hole, real grass championship putting course. The 132-yard Challenge Hole, modeled after the celebrated 17th hole of the Stadium Course at Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass, is surrounded by water and is just steps from the hotel.

Guests of The Renaissance also have access to PGA TOUR Golf Academy, PGA TOUR Spa Laterra, and the private oceanfront Serenata Beach Club.

While the many resort offerings are impressive, accommodations at The Renaissance are first-class too. Appointed with European accents and providing wonderful views overlooking the Village’s picturesque lake and golf courses, the hotel offers the finest in-room amenities. These include high-speed Internet access, two telephones with data ports, executive desk, wet bar, refrigerator, two televisions, iron and ironing board, in-room coffee, and hair dryers.

The lobby of the 10-story resort is also striking, with a towering open atrium complete with running streams, a cascading waterfall and exotic 30-foot palms. Natural limestone, marble and granite floors in the lobby set the stage for a grand resort.

In addition, the resort is an exceptional venue for meetings and conventions. Together with the adjoining St. Johns County Convention Center and the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando, with 86,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
