The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village Named One of "Top 100 Golf Resorts" by Condéé Nast Traveler

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (September 2005) - The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village in St. Augustine has again been named to Condé Nast Traveler magazine's prestigious "Top 100 Golf Resorts" list. Golf subscribers of the popular travel magazine were asked to vote for their favorite golf resorts in the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Canada, Ireland and Scotland. More than 330 golf resorts were considered, with properties rated on course design, speed of play, rooms, service, food/dining, and other facilities. Only properties that received a high percentage of ratings of excellent or very good were included on the list. This year marked the tenth year of the magazine's golf resorts survey.

"We're very honored to be included on this very prestigious list, " said the resort's general manager Terry Crawford. "Condé Nast is one of the premier travel publications, and we're pleased that they recognize our resort as among the very best."

This recognition follows another award recently bestowed on the resort. The 300-room Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village recently received the prestigious "Gold Tee Award" from Meetings & Conventions magazine, which is given annually to the world's finest golf resort properties. Winners of the Gold Tee Award were nominated and selected by readers of the magazine based on the overall experience, including overall staff attitude, quality of guest service, range of recreation facilities, quality of the guest rooms and meeting facilities, proficiency of handling reservations, and availability of technical/support equipment. For the year 2005, only 60 domestic and eight offshore/international golf properties earned enough votes to win the Gold Tee Award.

The Renaissance Resort is ideally situated in the heart of the beautifully landscaped 6,300-acre World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida. Among the many resort offerings are two extraordinary 18-hole championship courses that were designed by the legends of the game. King & Bear is the only course in the world designed jointly by Arnold Palmer ("The King") and Jack "The Bear" Nicklaus. This picturesque 7,279-yard course features loblolly pines, open meadows, impressive 200-year-old oak trees, and placid lakes edged with large coquina rocks.

The resort's other course, Slammer & Squire, is named for legendary Hall of Famers "Slammin" Sam Snead and Gene "The Squire" Sarazen. They partnered with architect Bobby Weed to create this impressive par 72 tree-lined course which features gentle rolling fairways and challenging lakes.

In addition to its two golf courses, The Renaissance Resort has a wealth of other recreational offerings. These include a 24-hour health club and sauna, professional golf simulator, large pool, hot tub, tennis courts, child activity program, cigar club, billiard room, 24-hour business center, jogging trails, and full-service concierge. Guests also have privileges at the private oceanfront Serenata Beach Club, and have access to the PGA TOUR Golf Academy, the new PGA TOUR Spa Laterra, an 18-hole putting course, and Island Challenge Hole.

The resort is conveniently located next to the World Golf Hall of Fame, the renowned Walk of Champions with bricks featuring signatures of past and present golf legends, an IMAX® Theater, and a boutique avenue with an assortment of specialty shops and restaurants.

In addition to its recreational offerings, The Renaissance Resort is the ultimate meeting destination for groups of all sizes with multiple interests. Together with the adjoining St. Johns County Convention Center and the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando, with 86,000 square feet of meeting space.

The 10-story Renaissance Resort offers spectacular views overlooking the Village's picturesque lake and golf courses, and features a towering open atrium lobby complete with running streams, a cascading waterfall, and exotic 30-foot palms. Limestone, marble and granite floors in the lobby set the stage for a grand resort.

Those interested in visiting the resort should take advantage of the "Swing and Stay Golf Package" now being offered by the resort. The package includes deluxe accommodations, one round of golf with cart on the King & Bear or Slammer & Squire, club storage, GPS yardage system, range balls, and a two-for-one drink coupon at the resort's Links Lounge. The package is from $125 per person, per night (based on double occupancy), and it is only available Sunday-Thursday. All taxes and fees are included.
