The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village In Northeast Florida Offering Incentives To Groups
…In celebration of its almost-complete $10 million renovation, the resort is offering a Nintendo WiiTM or iPhone to planners booking during “2008 Value Dates”
ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (March 2008) – The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village, located within the lush 6,300-acre World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida, is putting the final touches on its impressive $10 million property-wide renovation. The complete remodeling of all 301 guest rooms and suites is already complete, with dramatic changes to the resort’s lobby atrium, the remodeling and opening of a new restaurant and bar, new lighting throughout the public spaces, remodeling of all guest room corridors, and even the addition of a new “signature scent” slated for completion by early May 2008.
In celebration of the renovation, the resort is offering incentives to groups booking during “2008 Value Dates.” During select value dates in 2008, a meeting planner or incentive specialist booking a new group with a minimum of 50 room nights will receive their choice of: a Nintendo WiiTM interactive motion-sensing game system; an Apple iPhone; or a complimentary coffee break for up to 100 people. Value Dates in 2008 include May 12-18, May 26-31, June 1-30, July 1-31, August 1-31, September 2-16, September 28-30, and October 10-31, 2008. Additional dates may be available, and the offer is based on availability at the time of booking. For information and available dates, call Director of Sales & Marketing Scott Selvaggi at 904-940-8631, or visit www.WorldGolfRenaissance.com.
Together with the adjoining St. Johns County Convention Center and the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando, with 86,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
“We’re very excited about the completion of this multi-million dollar renovation, which touched virtually every aspect of our resort,” said Mark Schwantner, general manager of the award-winning resort. “We’ve already been receiving wonderful compliments from meeting professionals and incentive specialists, and know that groups will just love our greatly enhanced resort.” Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village Offering Group Incentives/Page 2
“We’re giving away the WiiTM or iPhone as a nice tie-in with our wonderful new high-tech additions to our new rooms and suites,” said Selvaggi. “Planners can keep the WiiTM or iPhone for themselves or they can use it as a fun prize or incentive for their group. Or, they have the option of choosing a complimentary coffee break for up to 100 people, if they prefer.”
Guest rooms and suites now feature all new furniture, soft goods, window treatments, and lighting. Guest rooms also boast new flat-panel screen LCD HDTV televisions, and the signature Marriott JackPack, which provides complete connectivity to the guests for laptops, MP3 players, digital cameras, and video game players. The new system also provides the option of listening to an MP3 player through the sound system.
The rooms and suites feature a contemporary design with an Asian feel, which includes rich red bed coverings with crisp white linens, along with a complementary color scheme of warm neutral gold. In-room offerings also include high-speed Internet access, two telephones with data ports, a wet bar and refrigerator, and in-room coffee.
Bathrooms in the guest rooms and suites feature all new vanities, lighting, and wallpaper in a more modern design, as well as new granite countertops. The wood vanities have been custom made, and offer a spa-like setting with niches for towels and other amenities.
All guest room corridors feature new carpeting with different shades of green accented by bright reds, blues and gold. Walls are covered in a rich, red wallcovering with gold accents, and new lighting illuminates the space.
The entry of the resort boasts beautiful new flooring, wood-wrapped columns, and accents of the Florida citrus colors. Guests now have the option to check-in at the front desk, or they may choose to check-in unassisted at the new kiosks positioned in the lobby.

The entry leads to a dramatically remodeled 10-story atrium lobby, which now has a Colonial/Asian theme with new furniture in hues of blue and green, new carpeting, new lighting, an enhanced waterfall and stream, and lush foliage (including bamboo) throughout to fit the Asian theme. Probably the most dramatic change to the atrium is the addition of a new 7-story modern hanging sculpture that captures the wind and air elements, reminiscent of open Florida skies.
In addition, the lobby features new conversational seating areas, which are also positioned near the resort’s bar. The bar was remodeled, and features a large center-standing TV, with new furniture in colors of vibrant red and orange with accents of bright green. The new restaurant, named 500 South, is adjacent and boasts a picturesque full-length wine wall, as well as colorful new furniture, warm wood tones and new lighting. It will open in April 2008.
The resort’s 26,450-square-foot St. Augustine Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 2,700 guests for receptions or 3,000 for theater-style, will soon receive new carpet and wall finishes. The resort is also adding flex-back chairs for all meeting space.
