ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (April 2008) – As part of its $10 million property-wide renovation, The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village dramatically redesigned its restaurant, and has just opened it as a new restaurant and bar called 500 South, An American Grill. The opening of the new restaurant and bar is part of the resort’s comprehensive $10 million renovation, with almost all of the projects now complete. The project included the complete remodeling of all 301 guest rooms and suites, dramatic changes to the resort’s lobby atrium and entry area, remodeling of all guest room corridors, new lighting throughout the public spaces, a beautiful remodeling of its billiard room, enhancements to the meeting offerings and business center, and even the addition of a new “signature scent.”

Guest rooms and suites now feature all new furniture, soft goods, window treatments, lighting, flat-panel screen LCD HDTV televisions, and the signature Marriott JackPack. The rooms and suites feature a beautiful contemporary design with an Asian feel, which includes rich red bed coverings with crisp white linens, along with a complementary color scheme of warm neutral gold.

The entry of the resort boasts beautiful new flooring, wood-wrapped columns, and accents of the Florida citrus colors. The entry leads to a dramatically remodeled 10-story atrium lobby, which now has a Colonial/Asian theme with new furniture in hues of blue and green, new carpeting, new lighting, an enhanced waterfall and stream, and lush foliage. Probably the most dramatic change to the atrium was the addition of a colorful new 7-story modern hanging sculpture that captures the wind and air elements, reminiscent of open Florida skies.

As part of the $10 million renovation, the resort incorporated many “green” initiatives into the project, which resulted in the resort just being awarded the prestigious One Palm Rating by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), showing it is a certified participant in the Florida Green Lodging Program.
