The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village Captures Prestigious Gold Tee Award

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (July 2008) – The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida, has captured Meetings & Conventions magazine’s prestigious “Gold Tee Award” for 2008. This marks the fourth consecutive year the 301-room resort has won the highly-respected award, which is given annually to outstanding golf/meeting properties worldwide. The resort was one of just 74 domestic and 10 offshore/international golf properties recognized with the honor. Together with the adjoining St. Johns County Convention Center and the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando, with 86,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

Not resting on its laurels, the resort just completed an impressive $10 million property-wide renovation. The project included the complete remodeling of all 301 guest rooms and suites, dramatic changes to the resort’s lobby atrium, the remodeling and opening of a new restaurant and bar, new carpeting and wallcoverings for all guest room corridors, an expanded fitness center with new state-of-the art equipment, new lighting throughout the public spaces, new carpeting in the meeting space, and even the addition of a new “signature scent.”

Winners of the Gold Tee Award were nominated and selected by the readers of the magazine based on the overall experience, including overall staff attitude, quality of guest service, range of recreation facilities, quality of the guest rooms and meeting facilities, proficiency of handling reservations, and availability of technical/support equipment. All winning golf properties were highlighted in Meetings & Conventions’ special Golf Guide in the July 2008 issue.

“We’re very pleased to receive this prestigious award for the fourth consecutive year,” said Mark Schwantner, general manager of the resort. “Winning this honor shows our dedication to providing excellent guest service and outstanding recreational offerings to all of our valued groups. This award shows that groups and planners were very pleased with our previous facilities, but they just love our newly remodeled, and greatly enhanced, resort.”
