The Newly-Renovated Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village Offers Something For Everyone

Whether you’re seeking a golfer’s paradise or a lush resort getaway, The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village offers something to please virtually anyone. Featuring a wealth of recreational offerings that appeal to golfers and non-golfers alike, this award-winning resort enables you to play golf on two of the country’s finest courses (King & Bear and Slammer & Squire), enjoy a soothing service at the world-class PGA TOUR Spa Laterra, relax on nearby pristine Northeast Florida beaches, experience the renowned PGA TOUR Golf Academy, and explore the wonders of America’s oldest city, St. Augustine.

Combine these offerings with the impressive $10 million property-wide renovation that was completed at The Renaissance Resort in July 2008 – and which was even recognized as the “Best Renovation of the Year” for a franchised property at the 2008 Marriott International National Association (MINA) conference -- and you’ll understand why this is such a popular resort for vacationers as well as meeting and incentive groups.

The official hotel of the World Golf Hall of Fame, The Renaissance Resort is ideally located next to the museum, and is the only full-service resort within the beautifully landscaped 6,300-acre World Golf Village. The Renaissance Resort’s $10 million renovation included the complete remodeling of all 301 guest rooms and suites, dramatic changes to the resort’s lobby atrium and entry area, renovation of all guest room corridors, new lighting throughout the public spaces, remodeling of the billiard room, expansion of its fitness center, enhancements to the meeting offerings and business center, and even the addition of a new “signature scent.” The resort also remodeled its restaurant and bar, which opened as a new restaurant and bar called 500 South, An American Grill, and has quickly become a favorite of local residents and guests.

Guest rooms and suites feature all new furniture, soft goods, window treatments, and lighting. Guest rooms also boast new flat-panel screen LCD HDTV televisions, and the signature Marriott JackPack, which provides complete connectivity to the guests for laptops, MP3 players, digital cameras, and video game players. The new system also provides the option of listening to an MP3 player through the sound system.

The rooms and suites feature a contemporary design with an Asian feel, which includes rich red bed coverings with crisp white linens, along with a complementary color scheme of warm neutral gold. In-room offerings also include high-speed Internet access, two telephones with data ports, a wet bar and refrigerator, and in-room coffee. Bathrooms in the guest rooms and suites feature all new vanities, lighting, and wallpaper in a more modern design, as well as new granite countertops. Guest rooms provide spectacular views overlooking the Village’s picturesque lake and Slammer & Squire course.

The entry of the resort boasts beautiful new flooring, wood-wrapped columns, and accents of the Florida citrus colors. The entry leads to a dramatically remodeled 10-story atrium lobby, which now has a Colonial/Asian theme with new furniture in hues of blue and green, new carpeting, new lighting, an enhanced waterfall and stream, and lush foliage throughout to fit the Asian theme. Probably the most dramatic change to the atrium was the addition of a new 7-story modern hanging sculpture that captures the wind and air elements, reminiscent of open Florida skies.

The new restaurant, 500 South, boasts a picturesque full-length wine wall, as well as colorful new furniture, warm wood tones and new lighting. The restaurant specializes in New American Regional Cuisine, using the freshest ingredients in the region, and features a large wine and cocktail list. The adjacent bar boasts an impressive two-sided 50-inch television as its centerpiece, as well as five additional flat-screen televisions, striking hardwood floors, and new furniture in vibrant reds and oranges.

Renaissance guests are able to enjoy an indoor professional golf simulator, where you can play on simulated greens of 22 top-ranked courses. Additional on-site offerings include the 24-hour health club, a sauna, large pool, hot tub, tennis courts, 24-hour business center, and full-service concierge.

Just a chip shot from the resort, guests will find The World Golf Hall of Fame’s 18-hole championship real grass putting course, the 132-yard Island Challenge Hole, an IMAX® Theater, and the Walk of Champions.

In addition to its status as a premier vacation destination, the resort is unsurpassed in its offerings for groups. Together with the adjoining St. Johns County Convention Center and the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort features 86,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. Among the many venues is the impressive 26,450-square-foot St. Augustine Ballroom. The resort is a consistent recipient of the meetings industry’s most prestigious awards, which includes Meetings & Conventions magazine’s “Gold Key Award,” Association Meetings magazine’s “Inner Circle Award,” and Meetings & Conventions’ “Gold Tee Award.”
